What a game?!

Another Saturday morning and I ain’t got nobody, I got some money cuz…the football is on the tube!! So off to the Dizzy for some footy! The doors open at 7:30am if there’s a good match (which in the dismal game of soccer, a good match is only in the mind of a true fan). Talk about dedication by a staff and owners to the illustrious game of soccer (I mean football) and the loyal patrons perusing the bar. The coffee is self serve which is always a good thing for Gratia the beautiful gracious one behind the bar. From the street, you can almost hear the cries of…lovely touch…Man U sucks…Go Arsenal! Then, around 5 mins to 11 the drooling for beer has begun! Pauly has been cooking these unforgiving soccer hooligans breakfast since the early morning, long before he should have ever seen the light of day, although cook it he does, and in fine fashion, as is all the food at the Dizzy gastro bar on Roncesvalles. Then at the half way mark of the game, I have passed by to hear the footy fans talking about the match outside on my way for a coffee, hearing such things again as…Man U sucks, Arsenal is having some bad calls go against them, and how soccer is the best game in the world. I suppose if you are a fan, you are die hard, as is any sporting fan of any game. But I have forced myself a few times to watch a few of these soccer games, and I mean yeah, the world cup is exciting but to be excited about watching two meanigless (too me) teams kick a ball back and forth for an hour and a half and then the game ends in a nil nil draw, and hear shit talk like… oh it was a tough match and how well one side played defense, and how the other side couldn’t get it going. Well I’m sorry but what a f*cking joke. Then while you’re watching the game there is a ghost kick in the shin and the guy is on the floor writhing in pain and medics come over, cart the pussy off on a stretcher and spray his leg with some magic dust (pixie dust for the little nancy boy) and two seconds later he’s up and running around! What kind of bullspit is that!? But as it goes, it’s you life, and your choice as to what sport you follow, or what sport you hate. But I’m sorry to voice my opinion on what a bunch of pussies these soccer, yeah soccer players are! I still love the bar, and love the food, and love the people, but their choices of sports, mind you, leave a little to be desired. From a local fan of all other sports including, paint drying, very similar to footy!

Football-Fussball-Futeball-Soccer

This is the blog for the supporters of the beautiful game. Here you can share your hopes, predictions and more or less your learned opinions. Sticking it to the opposition is not only permitted, it is encouraged. Try and be civil if possible. As for the people who want to post entries about other sports, do it at your own risk. At best you will be ignored.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL

This blog is reserved for comments regarding NFL, CFL or American College Football. We are the supporters of “REAL” hard hitting action, we believe in padding and we do not tollerate fake injuries as a part of the game!

The NFL boasts of having the most enviable fan demographics of any major sports league. With an average viewer income level over that of NBA, NHL or MLB; as well as, an average viewer age under those who view any other live sporting event (with possibly the exception of the newly growing soccer segment in North America, which still lies undetermined). With more than 100,000,000 viewers tuning in each week, and 30 percent of them being female, rednecks, we are not!

Ohio State=Integrity?

Here at The Dizzy World Headquarters, we have dedicated plenty of time arguing the merits of a NCAA Division 1A football playoff system. I have never personally spoken to a fan that doesn’t want one. Even the “real” media seem to be all aboard as well, and still, no playoff. This might help us understand why: Ohio State president Gordon Gee, who has always claimed to be a purist only looking out for the interest of the student athlete, recently said “I say this with all humility; I’m certain that if almost every fan had the job that I have of running (The) Ohio State University, that if they were in my shoes, they would be as adamant as I am (against a playoff system). Anyone with any integrity or intelligence would be.” As it turns out, the fans that contribute millions of dollars each year to college football are just a bunch of ignorant yahoos that obviously lack integrity. Well thanks Mr Gee for coming down from Mount Buckeye to set us straight. I’m quite positive your stance has nothing to do with the fact that your squad has been to the last two championship games without the aid of a playoff.
